Medical Services
Three acute care hospitals fall under the Johns Hopkins Medicine umbrella. The 1,000-bed Johns Hopkins Hospital is the flagship, founded in 1889. Nearly 2,000 full-time attending physicians and 1,100 residents work within a campus of 20 interconnected buildings.
Those buildings are home to several world-renowned centers of excellence including the Brady Urological Institute, the Wilmer Eye Institute, the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Comprehensive Transplant Center and other multidisciplinary centers in otolaryngology-head and neck cancer, women’s health, orthopedics, pediatrics and cosmetic surgery, among others. All are consistently ranked among the very best in the country.
